A public hearing will be held by the Framingham Community Preservation Committee on Monday, March 18 at 7:00 PM in the Blumer Room on the lower level of the Memorial Building (Town Hall). At this hearing, the CPC will make recommendations on funding for all project applications submitted for FY24. CLICK HERE to see the posted notice of the public hearing and additional information about all FY24 CPC projects being considered.
Framingham Youth Softball has submitted a FY24 proposal asking the CPC for $50,000 to fund a conceptual design study of the Walsh/Dunning Softball Complex. These funds would be used to engage a landscape architecture firm to create a plan that would upgrade the complex to include bathrooms, a storage/concession building, field improvements, scoreboards, lights, batting cages, and other needs. This would allow the complex to host competitive club tournaments in the summer and put the facility on par with what is currently available to boys at the Long Field Complex for Framingham Little League.
It is important for the CPC to see that people are watching this project closely and want to see it move forward. Please do your best to attend in person and forward this information to other interested softball families and supporters. Having girls show up in their softball jerseys would send a strong message about the level of enthusiasm and support this project will have.
If you are unable to attend in person you can follow the proceedings live via zoom. CLICK HERE for the zoom link. You will be asked to input your name and a valid email address to attend online. The Committee will see your name on the zoom and this will also help show your support.
We are still a long way from seeing this project through to completion, but this first step is an important one in ultimately providing better opportunities for future generations of softball players in Framingham.
Please reach out to Mike Welch if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you on Monday, March 18.
