FYS Spring Softball 2025

Welcome to Framingham Youth Softball's 2025 Spring Season ! Opening Day is Sunday, April 27th!

Registration will occur in four general divisions listed below.

Instructional Level - grades K-1:

Season Schedule will run from April 27th through June 8th
Practice/Games will be on Sunday mornings and one weekday night
The Instructional Level is designed to teach the fundamentals of the game, provide time to practice skills through various drills, and to play a short controlled scrimmage twice per week,
Coaches pitch and tees may be used for hitting. Coaches keep the practices and games moving.
Teams will be formed based on school and previous team up to the max roster size of 10

Junior B Level - grades 2-3:

The Junior B level is the next step of play and focuses on strengthening the fundamentals while introducing situational awareness.
There will be two games per week on Sunday and one weekday night.
Typically there will also be one practice per week, on a day determined by the coach.
Kids will be encouraged to pitch with coaches coming in to pitch in order to move the game along.
Season Schedule will run from April 13th to June 15th, with the first two weeks being practice only and games starting on April 27th
A 2 week playoff schedule will run from June 1st to June 15th
Teams will be formed based on school, teammate, and coach preference where possible up to the max roster size of 12

Junior A Level - grades 4-5:

The Junior A level is the next step of play and umpires are used at each game.
There will be two games per week on Sunday and one weekday night.
Typically there will also be one practice per week, on a day determined by the coach.
Season Schedule will run from April 14th to June 15th, with the first two weeks being practice only and games starting on April 27th.
A 2 week playoff schedule will run from June 1st to June 15th
Teams will be formed based on school, teammate, and coach preference where possible up to the max roster size of 12

Senior Level - grades 6-8:

The Senior level is our oldest level and virtually all of the USA Softball rules are in play.
There are three games per week on Sunday and two weekday nights
Typically, there will also be one practice per week, on a day determined by the coach.
Season Schedule will run from April 14th to June 15th, with the first two weeks being practice only and games starting on April 27th.
A 2 week playoff schedule will run from June 1st to June 15th
Teams will be formed by draft. Teammate and coach requests are not guaranteed

Equipment:

FYS will provide game jerseys to each player.

FYS also provides batting helmets, bats, and catcher's equipment from Juniors through Seniors but you are welcome to provide your own gear and supplement it with gear from the league.

Players should have their own cleats and gloves. Many, if not most, players, typically have their own helmets and bats. That is up to each family to decide what they would like. Finally, at he Instructional level, players typically wear leggings, shorts, or softball pants. At Juniors through Seniors, players should all wear softball pants and socks.
